FLOW

FLOW: Warmed to 82-85 degrees (see below). A dynamic class known for the coordination of breath and movement stemming from Sun Salutations. A flow class can be for all levels, as the teacher will offer standard postures with more challenging options for students who wish to take it further.

Depending on the teacher there may be more or less “flows,” along with held postures to balance out the class. Child’s pose is available to you at anytime during class if you need a break. Even the most advanced yogis take a child’s pose when needed.

Music is played throughout the class. The type of music and volume depends on the teacher and their own unique style. We always do our best to find the clean version of songs but from time to time colorful words may accidentally appear.

You will need:

  • A high quality yoga mat. (studio mat rentals are $3)

  • Sweat towel (studio sweat towels are available for $1)

  • Water (we have a water refill station and 12oz bottles for $2)

** 82-85 degrees will vary depending on the amount of students in the room. For example, 9:30am (M-F) and 9am/10:30am (S-S) may be closer to 85-90 degrees due to the popularity of the classes. We do not use artificial humidity. Please note we are not a hot yoga studio as hot yoga is 100-105 degrees with 30-60% artificial humidity.

Slow FLOW

Slow Flow Yoga is, as the name suggests, a slower-paced form of vinyasa yoga, incorporating a combination of traditional yoga poses that flow from one to the next and are often held for longer during the sequence. Slow flow yoga connects movement with breath, emphasizing mindful engagement, awareness and ease through each pose. As most postures are typically held longer than in more energetic forms of yoga, students have the time and space to move deliberately, explore subtler levels of alignment and deepen the stretch as they connect-in with their body.

The slower pace allows you to feel into each movement, gaining a deeper understanding of your body – feeling every area of tightness and tension that have been stacking up over time, and working to release them one by one. Breathing into each movement helps to create a better balance between effort and ease in both physical and mental states.

FUNDAMENTAL FLOW

Fundamental Flow: A basic approach to flow class with less movement and sustained holds in order to offer more instruction and alignment tips to help the student understand the basic principles and techniques of postures. No heat is used.

ASHTANGA MIX

Asthanga Mix: Not heated; no music

Mix is a blend of sequences and series requested by the students (based on the Ashtanga set sequence). Because of this, the class is different every time. Great for intermediate+ students looking to advance their practice.

ASHTANGA PRIMARY SERIES

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Primary Series: Not heated; no music. If you typically take Flow and want to improve your practice this class is for you. Improve your alignment, gain strength, flexibility and master arm balances! All levels are welcome.

The Primary series, also known as “First” series, or Yoga Chikitsa (yoga therapy), is the foundational sequence that heals and purifies the whole system, meaning body, emotions, and mind. It’s a very balanced mix of standing postures, floor postures, and cooling postures. The whole sequence in its entirety can be daunting if the student is new. Our teachers will help new students modify until they can build their endurance. No matter if you are a new to yoga or an advanced practitioner Ashtanga Yoga is beneficial to all.

YIN - DEEP STRETCH

Yin (Deep Stretch): Not heated; light or no music A very slow-paced style of yoga with postures mostly done on the floor that are held for long periods of time. Yin yoga applies gentle tension to the connective tissue, such as the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility and strength. The poses also improve the flow of prana (life force) to boost organ health, immunity, mental and emotional balance and well-being. Appropriate for all levels.

WALL ROPES

The use of wall ropes was started by B.K.S. Iyengar, often referred to as Kurunta. In this class, yogis utilize a system of ropes attached to the wall to support, stabilize, and enhance their yoga practice. These ropes act as props, aiding in alignment, balance, and deepening stretches. The class typically begins with gentle warm-up exercises and progresses to more challenging poses using the ropes for support and stability. Participants can expect to experience a unique combination of traditional yoga asanas (poses) along with the added dimension of the wall ropes, allowing for deeper stretches, increased flexibility, and improved alignment.
